Day 4 & 5 - Wed & Thurs October 18-19, 2023

By 9:00 a.m. we were on the road headed toward Wells, Nevada. Our departure began a bit discombobulated when we realized very quickly that instead of being under the recliner, Gizmo was up on TOP of the large slide. He was sitting on the roof of the slide between it and the ceiling of the RV.  And of course, as the engine had started, he wasn’t moving…and he was petrified to be up there.  He made a sound I’ve never heard before, a sound of sheer terror 😢  We quickly found a safe spot to pull over so that I could coax him down.  It wasn’t easy, and did involve squirting water at him from a water bottle…to get him to move toward a spot where I could grab him.  Poor Gizmo!  Never a dull moment for this little guy.  Of course, during the whole ordeal HeyZeus and Heffay were as calm as can be.

The day turned out to be a short driving day, covering only 240 miles when we decided to stop in Twin Falls, Idaho at an RV park for a couple nights.  Last year we had committed to ourselves that we would drive two days then stop two nights.  It’s a very long drive and as we’re not in a hurry, we figure we might as well enjoy it as much as we can.  And more importantly, allow our bodies to rest.

Our stop for the next two nights was the Twin Falls 93 RV Park.  We’ve never stayed there before but could see it becoming a regular rest point in our annual journey.  It is a very nice quiet park right of I93 that has two wonderful fenced off leash dog runs.  It was beautiful with all the fall foliage.  There was even a horse in a small pen in the corner of the park (I know, odd!).  HeyZeus got to meet his very first horse…although admittedly from quite a distance.
Our spot for the next two nights
HeyZeus meets his first horse, albeit from a distance 😊
Heffay finally gets a chance to get out and run around.  That’s one happy puppy!
Handsome boy 💕
Such a goof, he LOVES chasing falling leaves…and their shadows ❤️

We had a couple of new “discoveries” while parked for a couple of days.  First was that the big living room slide was sticking and wouldn’t come in.  Thankfully we found this out the night before we left instead of the morning of.  It took some muscle, but we were able to get it back in.  Apparently it is a common issue.  As much as they charge for these RV’s, the build quality leaves much to be desired for.  The good thing is that thanks to YouTube, we should be able to fix it more permanently ourselves by adding more rollers to the bottom of the slide.  That’ll likely be something we do once back home.

The second “discovery” was that our 50 amp surge protector wasn’t working.  We bought it quite a few years ago but hadn’t really used it until last year while in Lo de Marcos.  The power was constantly surging which really gave the surge protector a work out.  We figure it just got worn out.  It was a good thing we discovered it while still in the states so that we could replace it before getting into Mexico.  We likely could order it through Amazon MX, but would most definitely get a better deal purchasing it north of the border.

The rest of the two days was just that….rest.  No shopping, just hanging out in the RV giving our bodies a break and giving the boys a chance to relax and get some exercise.  Well, all but Gizmo who we keep inside, he’s not much of a leash walker which is honestly fine by me! I realize too that there really haven’t been any pics of the little guy so far.  I promise, there are more to come.  He is having a BLAST this year, we are so happy to see him finally relaxed and running around everywhere exploring and playing 😊
All kinds of smells to soak up!
Such a gorgeous boy 💕
